Nicnevin — Queen of Elphame.
Scent: Pumpkin spice smells warm and cozy—sweet cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and ginger softened with creamy vanilla and a hint of baked pumpkin.
In the storm-lit nights of 16th-century Scotland, Nicnevin rode the autumn winds, crowned in moonlight, leading her spectral host of witches, fairies, and spirits. Known as the Queen of Elphame she was said to pass over fields at Samhain, her arrival marked by the sudden flight of wild geese and the hollow glow of carved turnip lanterns — the forerunners of pumpkins. Farmers left offerings of bread, cream, and ale to earn her favour and ensure the safe passing of the dark months ahead.
Nicnevin is the weaver of charms and the keeper of liminal nights, moving between the mortal world and the fairy realm. She brings visions, prophetic dreams, and the stirring of forbidden knowledge, but also demands respect — for she is as quick to bless as she is to bewitch.
Light this candle to summon her spirit on the threshold of Halloween, when the veil thins, the air tastes of smoke and spice, and the wild hunt passes overhead.
Each candle is made from coco soy wax and housed in a glass vessel with a black tin lid. All candles come hand wrapped with black velvety ribbon.
Candle safety note: we recommend trimming wicks before each burn. Don’t burn for more than 2hours at a time and do not leave candles unattended.
